A True Hero

24th February 2016

Josephine Andrews:

This Man is an unsung HERO, yesterday whilst I was shopping in Folkestone my large red handbag was stolen, I rushed out of shop, trying to give chase but I am almost aged 84, the thief passed a man, who noticing the situation, ran after the thief and held him securely until the Police took over. At all times the man remained modest and unassuming. A TRUE HERO, my life was in that red bag, now safely with me. Thank you. Josephine Andrews.

Searching for John Bickel

4th May 2013

Andrew Thackray:

My name is Andrew Thackray, I was born in Windsor England in 1949, I emigrated to Australia in 1973, I now live in Western Australia (the wild west).
I knew the Bickel family in the late 60's/early 70's when they lived in Edward Avenue, Camberley Surrey.
I believe the John may live in Lydd and it is on my "bucket List" of things to do, to make contact with all my good friends from around that period in my life and I would really like to catch up with John. If there is anyone that knows John or members of his family I would be forever grateful for the opportunity to make contact once again.
Andrew Thackray

Prior Family of Lydd

1st January 2013

Sue Dean:

Hi,
I'm the daughter of Robert Sydney Piper, whose mother was Florence Prior. Her address is gven as Caldicott Farm, Lydd on this birth certificate. I would like to get in touch with members of the Prior family to learn more about this side of the family. My father was adopted by Stephen Piper when he married Florence in 1920, but he was another man's son, born in June 1917. If anyone has any information, however vague, that would help me find out who my real grandfather was I would be very grateful. Thank you, Sue Dean (nee Piper)

Family History

31st July 2010

Helene Deissner:

Hi David, I was born in Lydd in 1936, I remember the two Doctors well, I forget which one was our doctor though, Edgar sticks in my mind. I am afraid I don't have any photos of 'old' Lydd & every time I visit there seems to be fewer & fewer shops open. I am coming over to England next week for 3 weeks, from BC Canada, visiting my sister in Christchurch & my cousins in Lydd area, also my Aunt Pam (Winkfield) who is now in a home in New Romney, she is 94 years. I remember being in Lydd when the war was on, we lived with my Grandparents in Station Rd. I went to school there. We moved to Brenzett when I was about 11 years.
I used to go to Lydd Club Day every year. Helene

My family were once the Doctors in Lydd. Some of the older population may remember the Doctor Procters. Anyway I am trying to find a photograph of the old family home The Paddocks before it was re-developed.Also any information anyone may have of their time in Lydd.

Many Thanks
